To quickly reset the engine control unit (ECU) of a 2013 Nissan Altima, the easiest method is to use a scan tool. If that's not an option, you can also reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery and removing the fuse for the ECU. First, disconnect the negative cable from the battery in the engine compartment. Next, locate the ECU relay in the fuse panel nearby, remove it, and wait for at least 10 minutes. Afterwards, reinsert the relay, reconnect the battery, and allow the ECU to relearn its settings. This process should clear any previous trouble codes from the ECU.
