To reset the main computer or ECU of a 2011 Ford Fiesta, start by disconnecting the negative and positive cables of the battery under the hood. Next, without touching the battery, connect the two cables together for 30 seconds. Then, reconnect the positive and negative nodes. Alternatively, some drivers choose to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes before reconnecting and allowing the car to idle for 15 minutes. After turning the Fiesta off and removing the key from the ignition, reinsert the key and turn it to the "acc" or "on" position, then back to "off" three times with 3-second intervals in between each step. On the third cycle, start the engine again. Wait for 3-4 minutes for the ECU to reset and complete an "idle relearn." Finally, put the car in park, and the computer should be recalibrated.
