The fuel gauge in a Mercedes can be reset by removing a specific fuse and then turning on the engine. Make sure the vehicle is powered off and locate the interior fuse box below the passenger's side door in the cabin. Look for the fuse labeled "F5" with a 15-amp reading, remove it, and then replace it. Turn on the engine to reset the fuel gauge. Another method is to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect to perform the reset. Mercedes vehicles usually use premium fuel with an octane rating of 97 or higher. Premium gas is necessary for high-end cars that have more compression in the combustion chamber or use a turbocharged engine.

Hey William, make sure to reset the odometer for the next oil change. Also, consider checking the fuel gauge to accurately display the fuel level in the tank. You may need to locate and remove the fuse, give it a quick check, and then put it back in to possibly reset the gauge. Alternatively, there might be an issue with the sensor or the float inside the tank, which can be replaced if necessary.

Thank you very much, everyone. I've gone through all your comments and I'll attempt to take out the battery for 15 minutes to see if that solves the issue.
