Resetting the gas cap light on a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 is a simple task that can be done quickly. Start by turning off the engine and opening the gas cap door. Remove the gas cap by unscrewing it, then replace it to ensure a proper seal. Close the gas cap door and return to the car. Start the engine, drive for a short distance, and the light should reset and turn off. If this doesn't resolve the issue, it may indicate more serious problems, in which case it's best to seek assistance from the dealership or a mechanic.

The light was really bothering me inside.... I did the following steps in sequence: got a new cap and lubricated the rubber seals with oil before installing it... then I disconnected the positive terminal on the battery for 2 minutes and reconnected it... I reset the odometer settings as per the manual to clear the message back to zero... I turned on the ignition (not to start) and quickly pressed the gas pedal three times before starting the truck. The light is now off and hasn't shown up again.

I attempted that solution without success, then I purchased a new gas cap but still encountered the same issue.

Clean the seal and opening of the gas tank with a cloth. Use some saliva on your finger to spread it around the cleaned areas. Put the cap back on, following Eddie's instructions, then quickly press the gas pedal three times. This action will clear the warning light on the gas cap and email notification icon. Thank you.

Inspect all hoses in the entire EVAP system for signs of damage such as rotting, cracking, looseness, or disconnection. This includes checking the vent and hoses located on top of the fuel tank. Additionally, examine the EVAP purge solenoid positioned under the hood near the front right side of the engine.

You have the option to remove the negative battery cable, and just like that, it disappears.
