The innovative active bonnet technology developed by Mercedes Benz is designed to lessen the impact on a pedestrian in the event of an accidental collision. However, there are some issues to be aware of. If the system malfunctions, a message saying "Active Bonnet Malfunction" will appear on the dashboard. In such a case, you will need to manually adjust the actuators under the hood. To do this, lift the hood from the center using both hands until the bonnet lifters stop moving. You will feel resistance when pushing the lifters back. Make sure the lifters are correctly positioned on the housings before closing the hood, indicating that the reset is successful.
