If the maintenance light illuminates in your Toyota Tacoma, it indicates the need to change the oil using synthetic SAE 0W-20. To reset the maintenance light after changing the oil, follow these steps: Turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Ensure that the odometer is showing the mileage, not the trip meter. If it shows the mileage, turn off the vehicle and press the trip meter reset button. While holding the button, turn on your Toyota again, watching the odometer as you do so. As you continue holding the reset button, the odometer will display dashes that will eventually turn to zeros. Once the normal odometer numbers reappear, release the reset button. The maintenance light should now be reset and will only come back on after driving another 5,000 miles.

The oil change reminder light turns on when it's time for an oil change. To reset the light, switch the ignition to the on position without starting the engine. Then, press the odometer button to trip A, turn off the ignition, and press and hold the reset button for the trip odometer.

Your dashboard's multi display screen will show the oil change reset for your 2016 or newer Tacoma, with the factory recommendation being every 10,000 miles. Rotate the tires every 5,000 miles. You can find all this information in your maintenance manual and online as well.
