If the oil change indicator is illuminated in your 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, it indicates that an oil change is necessary. Typically, a mechanic or dealership will reset the indicator after completing the oil change. However, if they do not or if you perform your own oil changes, you will need to reset it yourself. To reset the indicator, simply turn the car to the on position with the engine off. Then, press the gas pedal to the floor three times within a five-second window. This action should cause the dashboard light to flash and reset.
Start the car by turning the ignition, but don't actually start the engine. Quickly press the gas pedal to the floor three times within five seconds. This will make the oil light blink and reset.
