To reset the oil light on a 2010 Mazda6, start by changing the oil and then pressing the reset button. Before starting the oil change, ensure that the car has been parked and turned off for a few hours to avoid dealing with hot oil that could burn you. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine, position a bucket to catch the oil, and loosen the plug to allow the oil to drain. Wait until the oil stops dripping, which may take up to an hour. Once drained, reattach the plug and locate the intake port on top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to fill the oil pan to the full mark, being careful not to overfill to prevent leaks and oil burn off. After topping up the oil, seal the port, clean up any spills, and then you're all set.
