To reset the standard radio in a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta without navigation, start by turning it on. The screen will show media settings. While it is on, press the left volume control knob below the screen to turn it off. The display will go dark as the stereo shuts down. Keep holding down the volume control, and the radio will go through a reset process. You will see a clock moving on the screen as the stereo completes the reset. Once it's done, the start-up screen will appear again. This method is applicable for Volkswagen's "discover" or "composition" media system. If you have a navigation or CD-equipped stereo, you can reboot it by pressing the top two buttons and the power button simultaneously.
