Repeat this process three times, turning the key to the off position each time. Finally, start the engine. If you've never performed this procedure before, experience any throttle or idle issues, or frequently use cruise control, it is recommended that you do this. This important sensor helps your engine maintain the appropriate air intake by working in tandem with the throttle valve. As you press the gas pedal, the valve in the throttle body unit opens, prompting the throttle position sensor to adjust the engine's intake manifold accordingly.

1. Remove the Battery. Use a non-conductive material to cover the negative terminal, then connect the negative and positive terminals together for approximately 10 minutes to release any stored energy. Reattach the negative cable to the battery.
