To recalibrate the throttle position sensor (TPS) in a Dodge Ram, follow these steps: Start the ignition without pressing the brake pedal to prevent the engine from starting. Fully press the accelerator to the floor for 15 seconds, then release it. Turn off the car, start the engine, and drive. A malfunctioning TPS can lead to issues with the throttle body's operation, such as it remaining closed or not closing properly. If the throttle stays closed, the engine won't receive air and won't start. Depending on the TPS problem, your truck may be challenging to drive, get stuck on the roadside, or even accelerate uncontrollably, posing a dangerous situation.

That doesn't add up. My 2012 Ram 1500 always starts without me needing to press the brake pedal. In fact, I often start it that way, especially because I frequently use the remote start feature, especially living in Jackson, WY. Interesting...

To recalibrate the throttle position sensor on a Dodge Ram, you start the truck without pressing the brake pedal so the engine doesn't start. Step on the gas pedal all the way down for 15 seconds. Release the pedal, then shut off the ignition before restarting the engine and hitting the road.

It didn't function, but it's still glowing.

The warning light for the electronic throttle appeared on my 2008 Ram 3500 diesel truck. Despite repeatedly turning the truck on and off and driving over 30 miles with a rough idle, the light remained lit. I followed the recommended steps, and it resolved the issue. After a few restarts and driving it a couple more times, the electronic throttle light disappeared, and now the truck idles smoothly.

So, after the initial solution didn't work, I switched off the ignition and kept the throttle pressed down for 15 seconds. And it did the trick - the throttle is now functioning properly.

Can you please point out the location of the red button for the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) relay on a Dodge Ram 2010?

  • It does

I think it means that when you replace your faulty tps, this is the process to reset it, but not the faulty one.

Here is a paraphrased and articulated version of the text: "To clear all diagnostic trouble codes, turn the key two clicks without starting the engine. Wait until all instrument lights settle, then turn off for about 5 seconds before starting the engine. Following these steps resolved my issue, and I have not experienced any problems for the past three weeks.

This is regarding the Aisen transmissions, which are not installed in 1500 trucks. I am unsure of the process for resetting them, if it is even possible.

I installed a new throttle position sensor on my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.9L engine. I attempted to reset it and clear the code reader. The reader indicates that the code is gone, but then it reappears when rechecked. I made a minor adjustment to the screw, and now it's running well. However, it might still trigger the bank one sensor if I drive it for a bit. I'm unsure what else to try.

I drive a 2012 Dodge Ram 5.7 and this tip really helped me out. I used to be nervous about driving it, but now I'm excited for the alarm clock to go off so I can jump in and hit the road. Living that big truck life to the max! #XMAXXLIFE

My pickup performed even better than it had before, with increased power.

My pickup truck turned on, but it's running poorly, vibrating, and lacking power. I followed all the instructions provided, but it's still not working properly.

Hello, I own an 18 Ram 5500 with a 6.7 turbo diesel engine. After changing the battery, the throttle body light has been turning on and off, with warning signals. How can I reset or relearn the throttle body? Thank you.

I installed a new sensor on the entire throttle body of my truck, but the lightning bolt warning light is still on and the truck won't start. I've been told that I may need to replace the ignition switch.

The electronics are delicate. It may just be a matter of drawing too much power from an unexpected source. I had one too many cables plugged into my power outlets in my Durango. I removed one and the problem disappeared. It might sound silly, but I tested it a few times, and every time I plugged in or unplugged something, the TPS code would immediately show up when something was plugged in, and then disappear when it was unplugged. So, if you've added any electronic device, that could be the root of the issue. In my case, adding one more item to the USB was enough to mess up the sensor, even though USBs are low power. Just thought I'd share my experience.
