The TPMS on your 2012 Chevy Malibu is there to alert you if a tire is not inflated enough, which could lead to tires wearing out early, tire failure, and unsafe driving. Resetting the TPMS is easy and quick. Just turn the ignition to the "ON" position (without starting the car), then locate and press the "TPMS Reset" button under the dashboard until the tire pressure light blinks three times. After releasing the button, start the vehicle and wait at least 20 minutes for the sensors to update. Once done, the TPMS reset is complete.

To reinitialize the tire pressure monitor system in your 2012 Chevy Malibu, simply turn the ignition key to the "on" position and push the TPMS button, which is typically found beneath the dashboard, until the TPMS light flashes multiple times. After starting your car and allowing it to run for a minimum of 20 minutes, your TPMS system will be recalibrated.

To initiate the relearning process, first ensure your car is in the ACC position, but not turned on. Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously until the horn sounds. Then either deflate and reinflate your tires, or acquire a TPMS relearn tool (available on Amazon for $12). Begin the relearning process by starting with the front driver's side tire. Hold the tool over the valve stem and press the button until the horn beeps. Repeat this step for the front passenger, rear passenger, and rear driver side tires. Your car will beep twice to signal completion. This process typically takes around 30 minutes for the car to detect the sensors and display the readings on the screen.
