A lot of 2013 Escape drivers are unhappy with how the windshield wipers work during rain. If you're having this issue, it may be necessary to replace both wiper motors. You can try resetting the wipers by turning the key to the "on" position and turning the wipers on and off until they're back in the correct parked position. Then, using a scan tool, set the wiper motors to "Learn Mode" and press the wiper arms down three times quickly. Pull the arms towards the A-pillar molding until they are 1.63 inches apart and press the arms down again. Finally, switch the wiper motors back to Normal Mode using the scan tool. This should reset them and make them work properly.

Start the car, activate the windshield wipers, and then turn them off. Ensure that the wipers are in the right position. Activate the wipers' learning mode with a diagnostic tool. Quickly press the wiper and washer lever down three times in 5 seconds. Adjust the wiper blades and then lower the lever for each wiper separately. Return the wipers to normal mode using the diagnostic tool, and run them at low speed to test their functionality.
