If your key fob isn't working in your Chevy Cobalt or you've got a new one, you'll need to reprogram it to sync with your car. To do this, first, you'll need to enter the vehicle and close all the doors. Then, insert your key into the ignition and press and hold the unlock button on the driver's door. Quickly turn the key in the ignition twice without starting the engine. Release the unlock button on the driver's door and wait for the locks to cycle. Once they do, press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on your remote until the doors cycle again.

To set up the key fob in a Chevy Cobalt, start by getting in your car and closing all the doors. Insert your key into the ignition switch and press the unlock button on the door panel. Take a close look at the ignition area, where you'll find settings for "off," "on," and "acc" in addition to starting the engine. Let go of the unlock button and pay attention as the doors lock and unlock. To sync the key fob with the car, press and hold both the "lock" and "unlock" buttons on the remote.
