To change the water pump in your 2011 Ford Focus, first, drain the coolant. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts on the water pump pulley without removing them yet. Rotate the tensioner with a ratchet or breaker bar and socket to remove the auxiliary drive belt. Take off the water pump pulley by unscrewing and removing the bolts. Disconnect the coolant hose from the water pump housing, then remove the mounting bolts to take out the pump. Place the new water pump in the housing and secure the bolts. Reattach the coolant hose and the water pump pulley. Put back the drive belt by loosening the tensioner. Refill the radiator with a mixture of fresh antifreeze and water. Lower the car and reconnect the battery cable.
