To set up a key fob for a 2013 Ford Explorer, follow these steps: Start by closing all the doors and then opening the driver's side door. Press the UNLOCK button on the inside of that door. Next, turn the ignition from OFF to RUN and back eight times within 10 seconds, making sure to end the sequence on RUN. This will put you in "programming" mode, which is indicated by the doors locking and unlocking. While in programming mode, press any button on the Ford remote that needs to be programmed within eight seconds. You'll hear the locks cycle again to confirm the programming. If you have additional key fobs to program, you can press a button on those remotes while still in programming mode. Once you're finished, turn the ignition to OFF, and the locks will confirm that your fob programming is complete.
