To take out the spare tire on the Ranger, assemble the two pieces of the jack handle. Slide one piece onto the other until they click together. Insert the slotted end of the handle through the square opening on the side of the truck's wheel nut wrench until it clicks into place. If there is a lock covering the access hole for the spare tire, remove it using the provided key. This lock can be found between the rear bumper and the tailgate. Slide the square end of the jack handle through the access slot and turn it until it connects with the lift cable for the spare tire. Use the wheel nut wrench and the jack handle to lower the spare tire by rotating counterclockwise. Twist the tire retainer in the middle of the spare tire counterclockwise until it detaches from the tire, then pull the tire out from beneath the truck.

The truck's spare tire is located beneath it. You'll need to lower it down through a hole at the rear of the truck. The manual provides detailed instructions on the process.
