To take out the second row seats in a Toyota Highlander, start by finding the bolts that hold each front seat leg to the floor. Remove the plastic covers and unscrew the bolts using a 9/16" wrench. Keep the bolts in a secure place. Fold the seats down and follow the same steps to remove the rear leg bolts with a 14mm socket wrench. Take off the plastic pieces that cover the sliding seat rails. After disconnecting all the bolts, push the front seats forward to create space for removing the rear seats. Lift each seat's side up and stand them upright. Pull them out from either side of the vehicle to completely remove them. Put the floor bolts back in place to avoid losing them. Some owners like to put sound-dampening blankets on the carpet to reduce road noise after the seats are taken out.
