To perform a coolant change on your car, start by opening the hood and locating the radiator, which is typically situated at the front of the engine compartment. Adjacent to the radiator, you will find a clear or black plastic container known as the coolant reservoir. This reservoir is equipped with a drain plug, a fill plug, and a dipstick for measuring the coolant level. If you only need to top up the coolant, simply add more to reach the appropriate level indicated by the dipstick. However, if you are planning to flush the system, open the drain plug and allow the old coolant to drain into a bucket. You can speed up the process by pouring water into the reservoir. Once the drained liquid appears mostly clean, close the drain plug, refill the reservoir up to the indicated cool or cold line, and replace the cap securely.

To top up low coolant levels, pour the appropriate coolant into the reservoir, not directly into the radiator. You can use either diluted coolant on its own or a 50/50 blend of concentrated coolant and distilled water. Once the coolant reaches the cold fill line, put the cap back on and tighten it until you hear it click into place.
