In the 2018 GMC Terrain, the auto start stop system cannot be turned off. GMC has implemented this feature across all their vehicles as a way to lessen greenhouse gas emissions and boost fuel efficiency. Drivers are unable to disable it, although there is a workaround by opening the hood before starting the engine and then closing it to fool the ECU into thinking the car is being inspected. While some third-party adapters claim to disable the start stop system, GMC does not support or recommend using them.

To turn off the auto stop feature on the 2018 GMC Terrain, locate the button with the letter "A" inside an arrow surrounded by a circle on the driver's side near the steering wheel. Press the button to disable it.

The 2018 GMC Terrain does not include this function, therefore your response to the query is rendered inconsequential.

The only two methods to deactivate it are by shifting to the "L" setting and then pressing the "+" button until you reach the top gear, or by installing a tune that turns it off, which is what I chose to do.

I own a 2018 Terrain SLE, but it doesn't have that button. I rented a Silverado last year and a 2021 Acadia last week, and they both had the button to turn it off. Even my 2019 Terrain SLE didn't have it.

My Auto Stop feature has been deactivated! I got this product from Zic Motors and it was a breeze to set up, functioning flawlessly. It hasn't triggered at all, but it hasn't caused issues with other functions either. I own a 2018 GMC Terrain that lacks the button to disable the auto stop feature. If you claim to have a 2018 model with this button, show me some proof, because mine definitely doesn't have it.

I toggled the L button on the gear shift panel to the right, followed by pressing the + button a few times - maybe three or four times. This resolved the issue with the start/stop feature on my 2018 GMC Terrain Denali 2.2 turbo equipped with a nine-speed transmission. It's been three days since I did this, and the start/stop function hasn't reappeared. Give it a try yourself to see if it works for you.
