To disable OnStar on your 2014 or newer Chevrolet Silverado, you'll require a plastic trim removal tool, which can be purchased for around $5. Begin by gently separating the trim around the stereo and display, making sure to work your way around the entire unit evenly. Take your time to avoid damaging any part of it. Once you've removed the trim, unplug the two clusters of wires at the bottom. Next, you'll need a drill with a 9/32-inch drill bit to remove the four screws at each corner of the frame. After removing the frame, you'll notice three color-coded wires in yellowish, brown, and red. Disconnect all three wires to successfully disable your OnStar system.
