To deactivate the seatbelt alarm in your Ford Escape, start by turning off the engine and removing the key. Engage the parking brake by pressing the pedal. Unbuckle your seatbelt, then put the key back in the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine. Wait for the seatbelt light to go off, which usually takes about 60 to 90 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt three times. Check the odometer for the warning light to reappear and then disappear. As soon as it goes off again, quickly buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt. Ford does offer the option to turn off the seatbelt alarm, but the company does not recommend this practice.
