To access the hood of your Honda Civic, first park the car on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Locate the hood release handle positioned beneath the lower-left corner of the dashboard and pull it to release the hood, which will pop up slightly. Then, move the hood latch lever located under the front edge of the hood towards the center and lift the hood open. Once the hood is lifted slightly, you can release the lever. Take out the support rod from its clamp using the grip and insert it into the designated slot in the hood. When closing the hood, retrieve the support rod from the slot and store it back in the clamp. Gently lower the hood, making sure it descends until it is about 12 inches (30 cm) from closing, then remove your hands and allow the hood to shut securely.
