In the Subaru Crosstrek, you can't open the rear hatch from the inside. There are two methods to open it, with no buttons or handles accessible from inside the cabin. The first way is to use your key fob - as long as your vehicle is unlocked, you can press and hold the hatch button on the fob to open it. The second way is to press the button on the handle itself. When the vehicle is unlocked, simply approach the rear hatch handle and press the center button to open it up.

I have the crosstrek limited, but there seems to be no button inside the car to open the hatch gate while I'm in the driver's seat. Can someone confirm if this is accurate or not?

So basically, there's this plastic panel on the bottom inside part of the door where you can access the latch. Open it up and then move the lever to pop open the hatch.

To access the trunk of the Subaru Crosstrek, you can use the latch located underneath the trunk or the button on the left side of the dashboard next to the steering wheel. Additionally, there is a latch inside the trunk in case you need to open it from the inside.

We purchased a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Touring from the Otto Subaru dealership, and they informed us that the only way to open the rear door from the outside is by pressing a button – there's no inside mechanism. This feature is quite convenient, especially on rainy days. Is this a design flaw in the SUV or simply a lack of information from the dealership?

North Carolina girl. I had to exit the vehicle to demonstrate to someone else how to unlock the car in order to retrieve their belongings from the trunk which is frustrating.

I'm experiencing a similar issue with my 2024 Crosstrek Limited, where there's no way to unlock the hatch from the interior. It's so frustrating dealing with this nonsense from Subaru!

I'm not happy with my purchase of the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Limited as the trunk inside the car cannot be opened, which I consider to be a design flaw.
