If you're considering using a slim jim to unlock a Ford Escape, I recommend against it. Using a slim jim can cause harm to your vehicle and result in expensive repairs. The method involves inserting the slim jim between the window glass and the gasket to release the door latch. However, this technique is not effective on newer cars with electronic releases instead of cable mechanisms. In most cases, a slim jim will only damage the weather stripping, the metal around the window, and may scratch the glass. This could lead to water seeping into the door, causing rust and potential harm to the electronic components.
A slim jim won't be effective for cars that are equipped with electric locks, so for the majority of newer Ford Escape models, electric locks are standard.
