If the Ford Escape's battery is dead and you need to shift it into neutral, follow these steps: Firstly, engage the parking brake to prevent rolling. Locate the small panel on the side of the shifter, open it, and find a white lever inside. Pull this lever to release the manual park. While holding this lever down, shift into neutral as usual, and then release the lever. Finally, disengage the parking brake, and the vehicle should now be in neutral without rolling.

To prepare for your escape, just put your car in neutral by inserting the key and turning it to the "on" or "acc" position, fully pressing the brake pedal, and shifting to neutral.
