To swap out the fuel filter on the Ford Focus 1.5 TDCI, start by disconnecting the fuel lines from the current filter and taking off the bolts holding the filter in place on the rail. Once it's off, you can slide in the replacement filter. Ford suggests using the Motorcraft brand, typically the FG872 model. Some signs that it's time to change the filter include trouble starting your car, rough idling, frequent stalling, sluggish acceleration, or a drop in fuel efficiency.
Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter housing, swap in the new filter, and make sure to securely reattach the fuel lines.
