To access the hood of your 2014 Ford Escape, first park the car on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Pull the hood release handle located beneath the dashboard's lower-left corner to pop the hood slightly. Shift the hood latch lever, found under the front edge of the hood towards the center, and lift the hood. After lifting the hood slightly, release the lever. Take out the support rod from the clamp using the grip and attach it to the hood. To close, disconnect the support rod, store it in the clamp, and gently bring down the hood. Lower the hood to about 12 inches (30 cm), then let go and allow the hood to close.
