Anti-theft features in vehicles are beneficial for keeping thieves away, but can be frustrating when they prevent you from accessing your own vehicle. Fortunately, resetting the immobilizer on most Ford Escape models is a straightforward process. You can reset it by disconnecting the positive battery cable for at least 15 minutes while the key is in the ON position. If this method doesn't work, it's likely that your key fob has a dead battery or is malfunctioning. Try using a spare key first to see if that resolves the issue. If you don't have a spare key or it doesn't work, you may need to replace the key fob battery or the fob itself, which can be a more expensive solution.
Disconnect the positive cable from the battery, switch the key to the on position, reconnect the positive cable, and then switch the key to the off position.
