To reset the immobilizer on a 2008 Honda Civic, start by inserting the key into the ignition and turning it two clicks to accessory mode. Look for the black button next to the hood release lever in the kick panel area. Hold this button for about 3 seconds until the security light stops flashing and remains solid. Now try starting the car by turning the key. If this does not work, check your key fob for issues like a dead battery or a malfunctioning transponder. If needed, visit the dealership to get a new key made and programmed to work with your car.

Push and hold the panic button for five seconds to reset the immobilizer, then press the lock button twice and wait 10 minutes.

In chilly weather, my 2008 Honda Civic refuses to start right away but eventually does with the key turned after a minute or two. Could this be a problem with the starter or the immobilizer system?
