To clear the maintenance light in your Toyota 4Runner, park the vehicle with all doors closed. Turn the key in the ignition to the on position without starting the engine. If your SUV has a push-button start, press it twice without touching the brake pedal as if you were starting the car. Find the ODOMETER/TRIP button on the instrument cluster and choose either ODO or TRIP A, depending on the model year. Turn the ignition off or press the push button start once. Press the ODOMETER/TRIP button again and keep it pressed while turning the ignition back on. If you use a push-button start, press it twice just as before. Keep holding the ODOMETER/TRIP button and you'll see 000000 MILES display. The maintenance light should turn off. Turn the ignition off and then start the vehicle to confirm that the reset was successful.
