I discovered a solution! I own a 2012 Ford Focus SEL model. To reset the transmission control module (TCM) and eliminate the annoying 2-second delay, follow these steps: Turn off the car and open the door to exit the accessory mode. Close the door, switch the car to run mode without starting it, press the brake pedal, shift into neutral, and wait for the "transmission ready" screen to display. Turn off the car, then turn it back on as if you were starting it. This process will reset the TCM. Also, remember to keep your car's e-brake engaged to prevent any rolling incidents on hills.
