When you're changing the oil in your car, start by ensuring that the car is parked and turned off for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. This prevents you from getting burned by hot oil. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug beneath it. Place a bucket underneath the plug before removing it to let the oil drain into the bucket. Allow it to drain completely, which might take about an hour. Once it stops dripping, reinstall the drain plug. Identify the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to fill the oil pan to the full level, making sure not to overfill. It's better to be slightly underfilled than to risk leaks or oil burning off. After filling it, seal the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're all set.

To change the gearbox oil in your Ford Ecosport, start by taking out the drain plug on the transmission to let the fluid drain out. Put the drain plug back in with a new washer, and then refill the gearbox with fluid from the cap in the engine bay.
