If the airbag warning light is illuminated on your Ford F-150, it indicates that the airbag system has been deployed or has detected a malfunction. To determine the issue, you'll need to utilize an OBD II scan tool to retrieve the stored code from the ECU related to the airbag system and then utilize the tool to clear the code causing the light to activate. It is advisable to inspect the airbag system yourself or have a dealership conduct an inspection. Ensuring that the airbags function properly is crucial for the safety features of your truck and identifying any potential faults is essential.

To clear the airbag warning light on the Ford F-150, insert the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. Wait for the airbag light to come on and then go off, turn the switch off, and wait for 3 seconds. Repeat this process once or twice. Finally, start the engine.

Hello. In my 2009 Ford F150, the airbag light is on. What can I do?

If you were in a crash and the airbags deployed, the only way to turn off the warning light is by replacing the faulty parts including the steering wheel, passenger dashboard airbags, and the seatbelt tensioner or retractor if defective. Before changing any seatbelt components, the ECU needs to be scanned. If the light persists after these repairs, the airbag module should be sent for a reset program.

The key also solves the problem for me. The top response on this page is incorrect. If a light object like a car seat or backpack is put on the passenger seat, both the air bag light and the passenger air bag off light will turn on. This is a safety precaution. The lights may turn off on their own after removing the item, but if not, using the key reset method worked for me as well.
