Taking out the headliner in a Ford Explorer is quite a complex job. You'll typically require pry tools and screwdrivers to fully take it off. To start, take off the panels on the A, B, and C pillars of the SUV. This step will release the headliner. Then, remove all the fixtures from the roof, such as the lights. Once those are out, you should be able to detach the trim from the rear of the vehicle near the hatch. Once that's done, you can lower the headliner and board, then slide it out from the back of the vehicle.
