In the 2018 Hyundai Elantra, it is recommended to change the oil every 3750 miles or every SRX months, whichever comes first. It is important to regularly check the engine oil level, ideally once a week or each time you refill the gas tank. Maintaining proper oil levels is crucial for optimal engine performance, and regular oil changes are essential for prolonging engine life. Quaker State is the preferred oil brand for the Elantra. The Nu MPi 2.0L engine should use oil with an SAE 5W-20 viscosity rating to achieve the best fuel economy and engine protection. Make sure to choose an oil that meets the API SM or ILSAC GF-4 standards. For the Gamma 1.6-Liter GDI engine, use SAE 5W-30 oil that meets ACEA A5 standards.

I usually change the oil in my 2014 Elantra GT every 6,000-7,000km, although I could push it further if I wasn't concerned about warranty coverage. Since my first 6 oil changes are free, I'll stick to the 6-7,000km interval for now. I feel like modern vehicles can go a long way without needing an oil change, possibly around 10,000-15,000km, but most people seem to change it sooner. I go with an oil and filter change every 5,000 miles, which falls between the normal and severe use schedule and it's easy to keep track of. My 2007 Accent has now run 198,000 miles, which I believe is a testament to the effectiveness of the 5,000-mile intervals.
