In a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, there are two oxygen sensors - one located near the catalytic converter and another positioned further downstream. These sensors play a crucial role in regulating the oxygen intake level for the vehicle. If there is an imbalance of oxygen intake - either too much or too little - it can result in the car running either rich or lean. This is detrimental to the engine as it will have to work harder and may not produce enough power to function properly. Such conditions can eventually lead to engine damage. The sensors are priced around $30 to $60 each, so it is advisable to replace them promptly if they malfunction. While a mechanic may charge an additional $100 for the replacement, you can easily handle the sensor replacement yourself.
