The 2003 Chevy Suburban comes with a total of four O2 sensors in the exhaust system. There are two located on the exhaust manifold before the catalytic converters, and another two positioned after the converters. These sensors are crucial in monitoring exhaust gas levels to ensure optimal engine performance. If one of the sensors malfunctions, it can result in rough engine operation as it struggles to maintain the correct air-fuel ratio. Additionally, a check engine light will typically illuminate on the dashboard to alert you of the issue. You can use an OBD II scan tool to further diagnose and confirm the sensor fault.
One oxygen sensor is positioned before the catalytic converter, while another is located after it.
