The cost of replacing the lead frame on a 2013 Ford F-150 can be around $1500 at different shops. However, this part is also referred to as the TCM, and Ford issued a recall for it in February 2019. The recall was titled 6R80 Sudden Transmission Downshift Powertrain Control Module Programming, with the number 19507. Basically, the issue is that the vehicle may unexpectedly shift into first gear, which can be dangerous, especially at high speeds. Contact your nearby dealer to have the lead frame replaced under this recall.

I completed the recall for my 2013 F150 in 2019 and everything was fine until last week. While driving at 45 miles an hour, the transmission suddenly shifted into 1st gear, causing me to almost lose control. I took my truck to the local Ford dealer, where they informed me about the extended warranty on the frame and said they would inspect my vehicle. After they called me back, the technician indicated that the issues suggested a faulty frame, but since there were no error codes in the computer, it couldn't be replaced under warranty. I have now initiated a case with Ford Motor Company. Let's see how this goes with Ford.

My truck unexpectedly switched gears, but it didn't register on the computer for some reason. Ford told me it wasn't a recall issue but a warranty extension, and they won't repair it since there's no record of it on the computer.

The price range to install a new lead frame for a 2013 Ford f150 is typically from $170 to $530.

If you bring your Ford to the dealership for the recall issue, it shouldn't cost you anything. The automaker previously informed owners about the problem through mailers a couple of years ago but would only replace the lead frame once the issue manifested in their vehicles. They have also lengthened the drivetrain warranty to 10 years or 150,000 miles. As long as your vehicle has not exceeded 150,000 miles, the repair will be done at no cost.

I have to pay $1,095 to get the lead frame of my 2013 Ford F-150 replaced at Banner Ford in Monroe.

I've been waiting for two months for Ford to repair the leaf frame on my transmission, but they still don't have the necessary parts. I am feeling let down by this delay.

I recently got the Lead frame replaced for my 2013 F-150 with 123,635 miles at the dealership on August 16, 2022. Luckily, there was no cost for the replacement, but it took around three weeks to arrive after ordering. I had to get it fixed because the wrench light was on, and it was showing the error code PO722.

You can still obtain a lead frame by requesting a new valve body, as the lead frame is included in that part number. However, the valve body itself is not subject to the recall, meaning you will need to cover the cost of it. At least this way, you will secure the lead frame.

I got one from the nearby Ford dealership yesterday for $210. Installed it myself. It's a straightforward task - just remove the pan and about 8 bolts. But be cautious that your shift solenoid isn't faulty, or you might have to redo the installation.

My car is currently at the repair shop because they are waiting for a part that is on backorder. Luckily, the cost of the repair is fully covered by the extended warranty that lasts for 10 years or up to 150,000 miles.

My 2013 Ford F150 truck has clocked 159,000 miles, and the dealership is quoting $2400 for a replacement.

I just visited my nearby Ford dealership and was informed that the part I need is currently unavailable. After contacting 35 dealers across California, I found out that they are all facing the same issue of the part being on back order. One dealer mentioned that there are 15,000 pending orders on record, but they only have 480 units available to be sent out by the end of the month. The wait time could range from 6 months to a year. Ford has not provided any solution, simply stating that this situation is out of their control.

My 2013 vehicle started having problems, so I used my BlueDriver OBDII scan tool and it showed multiple error codes. After researching online, I discovered there is an extended warranty available. I took it to my local dealer in Oklahoma, who confirmed that the issue is covered but couldn't provide an estimated time for the part replacement. I asked them to also replace the filter while they work on it. Now, I'm awaiting the repair. I was planning to retire but had to delay it, and I really don't need or want a new truck. Angela, how many miles has your truck done? Do you tow often?

In 2013, my Ford F150 with 143,000 miles is experiencing transmission issues - it's jumping and sticking. I have scanned the codes with my personal OBD device and also had a Ford-certified mechanic look at it, both pointing to a TSB-related part. When I contacted the Ford dealer, they asked me to schedule a diagnostic appointment for $179. The retail price for the part I need is $199. However, upon taking my truck to the dealer, I was informed that I would have to wait around a week and a half because there were 28 other cars ahead of me needing diagnostics. It's frustrating that I even made an appointment in the first place.

I've been waiting for a lead frame for more than half a year now. The truck has been parked at the dealership this whole time. It's disappointing that Ford doesn't have the necessary parts for their products, especially when they're aware of the issue.

Does anyone know where I can find a lead frame for a 2013 Expedition? My SUV has been at the dealership for three weeks, and there are no available parts anywhere in Texas.

  • Dre

The dealership recently replaced the lead frame of my 2013 F150 Limited at no cost, thanks to the 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty it came with.

My job is protected by the extended warranty for my 2013 vehicle. The truck is currently at 24 Ford in Easton, Massachusetts. Regrettably, to date, November 29, 2022, I have been waiting for 7 weeks with no resolution in sight. The required molded lead frame is still unavailable with no estimated arrival date.

My truck has been sitting at Lithia Ford for three months, just waiting for that leadframe sensor part. If I had known they would take this long, I could have bought the part myself and fixed it.

My car is currently being replaced without any cost to me.

I was never informed that the product was covered under warranty, and now that the warranty has expired, a part is malfunctioning. Since the warranty has ended, they are refusing to repair it, leaving me responsible for paying for the repairs myself.

I spent $1,600 on my transmission at Coleraine Ford back in February, and this is the second time I've had to replace it on this truck. Now the transmission has completely failed.

This is just a money-making scheme. My mine is messed up, and there is a $500 price difference between two dealers within a 15-mile radius offering the same service.

  • Kassidy

My car from 2013 has been at the dealership for more than six weeks now, waiting for a lead frame. It's under warranty, but there's no telling when I'll get it back!

  • #PeopleSuck

Corin Ford Middletown confirmed that my 2013 Ford F-150 requires a Lead Frame replacement, but they are unsure of when the part will be available. There are several trucks ahead of mine that have been waiting for over 30 days for the part. On very cold days, my instrument panel displays a Hill Descent Control Fault, causing steering issues until the truck warms up and is restarted. Additionally, after pressing Ok, the panel indicates a Service Advance Tract warning and a Power Steering Assist Fault. On one occasion during cold weather, it also showed a Low Battery Temporary Turn Off message. Are these issues separate from the Lead Frame problem, and if so, what actions need to be taken? The service department does not appear to be overly concerned about addressing these additional issues.

I've been eagerly anticipating that part since November 2, 2022! Finally got the part on Monday, March 6, 2023. Had a scheduled appointment on Tuesday at 7 AM, and now it's Friday evening and the repair still isn't completed!

My F150 is showing the same issues - it all began with strange downshifting, followed by the rear cross traffic sensor malfunction light, then the wrench, check engine, and occasionally the battery light coming on. Sometimes the condenser fires up, the gear shifter display disappears, and when that happens, if I turn off the car it won't start again until after about 30 seconds. It sounds like similar problems to what's described above, but my truck is a 2017 with 35,000 miles. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any warranty coverage for the 2017 model. The dealer has had the lead frame on order for 9 months now with no clear timeline for when it will arrive. The repair is quoted at $1100. This whole experience has really turned me off of Ford Motor Company.

I will never buy another Ford after waiting over 3 months for parts. The responses I receive are all variations of the same thing, which is quite frustrating. The dealership didn't provide a loaner car, so my truck is just sitting there with new tires and brakes, getting flat spots and rust. It makes me feel really disappointed. I don't believe they are even starting it up or moving it to a different spot once a week.

  • Manuel V

My 2013 F-150 was stuck in first gear until I turned it off, restarted it, and the dashboard went blank. I had to bring it to the dealer at 171,000 miles and ended up paying $1143. It was fixed in just 3 days.

  • Walter K

I brought in my 2013 vehicle for service just before the 10-year mark, but on both occasions, they only kept it for about 2 weeks and didn't provide a loaner car. I couldn't be without my truck for that long. Unfortunately, the problem we had heard about finally started, but now the warranty has expired because it's been more than 10 years - and the repair will cost $1,500. It feels unjust, but I'm angrier at myself for not taking action sooner.
