The Subaru Forester is compatible with an A-Class3 tow hitch that can handle up to 3,500 pounds of towing weight and a tongue weight of 500 pounds. The cost of installation will vary depending on the type of hitch selected and local labor rates, typically ranging from $350 to $400 for the hitch and $50 to $100 for installation, which should be done by a professional. The installation process involves lowering the Forester's exhaust and trimming the heat shield. If you decide to tackle the installation yourself, you will need tools such as 10mm and 19mm sockets, an 8" extension, a power drill with a 17/32" drill bit, and a torque wrench. After installation, the Forester should be ready to tow a small trailer comfortably.

My 2017 Forester Touring is at the Sherman Oaks CA Dealership right now getting a full OEM Tow Hitch package installed, which includes electrical wiring. Usually, the total cost for parts and labor is more than $800. But recently, there was a discounted price of $300 for parts and another $300 for labor. Then, on 11/10/2020, I got an email about their "Thanksgiving" deals, and one of them was for a Tow Hitch at just $300 plus an additional $100. This is the best deal I've ever come across for an OEM Tow Hitch at a dealership!
