The 2010 Chevy Cobalt 2.2l requires 5.0 quarts of oil when changing the oil along with a new filter. To begin the oil change, ensure the car has been turned off and parked for a couple of hours to allow the oil to cool down as it can be very hot and cause burns. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug on the bottom side. Place a bucket beneath the plug and remove it to let the old oil drain out. Allow the oil to drain completely, which could take about an hour. Once the dripping stops, replace the drain plug. Next, locate the intake port on top of the oil pan and use a funnel to refill the oil to the full capacity, being careful not to overfill to avoid leaks and oil burn off. It's okay to slightly underfill. After filling, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're all set.
