To determine how much refrigerant is required for a 2006 Ford F-150, you should refer to the underhood sticker on your truck for the accurate fluid capacities. The F-150 typically uses 40-42 ounces of Freon, which should be added to the low-side service port located below the coolant tank. The coolant can comes with a hose and gauge attached. To recharge, remove the cap from the low-pressure line and connect the hose to the opening. Attach the can of coolant to the gauge on the hose once the connections are made. Start your truck and set the air conditioning to its coldest temperature setting. While the engine and AC are running, the gauge will show if the AC needs recharging and enable you to monitor the fill until it is complete.
