The oil capacity of a 2001 Ford F-150 5.4 is 6 quarts. Before changing the oil on the vehicle, ensure that it has been parked and turned off for a few hours to avoid the hot oil. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug underneath. Place a bucket below the plug, remove it, and allow the oil to drain into the pan. Wait until it stops dripping, which could take about an hour. Once it has finished dripping, replace the drain plug, then find the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Using a funnel, fill the oil pan to the full mark, be cautious not to overfill. It's okay to be slightly under, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burning. After filling it up, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you are done.
