The transmission fluid capacity for a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 is 9.7 quarts. To change the transmission fluid, start by ensuring the car is parked on a level surface and then opening the hood. Locate the transmission fluid reservoir, which should be near the transmission, and find the dipstick. Remove it, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then pull it out again. Take note of the fluid level indicated on the dipstick and determine how much additional fluid is needed to reach the proper amount. Use a funnel to slowly add fluid until the reservoir is full, or just below full. Overfilling should be avoided. Secure the reservoir and you're all set.
