The 2008 Honda Accord requires 2.5 quarts of either Honda DW-1 Automatic Transmission Fluid or Dexron ViATF. It is advised to replace the transmission fluid every 80,000 miles. Failing to do so will lead to the transmission being lubricated with metal shards and other impurities, decreasing its lifespan. Regularly monitoring the transmission fluid level in between services is crucial. Allowing the fluid to run low can result in improper shifting or no shifting at all. To check the transmission fluid, pull out the dipstick while the engine is warm and running and the transmission is in park.
