When performing a transmission flush, it's important to be aware of the amount of fluid present in the gearbox. Failing to consider the approximate volume of fluid could result in spillage or splashing if the container used is not big enough. For example, the 2010 Toyota RAV4 requires 4.6 quarts of transmission fluid. Luckily, most drip pans on the market can hold at least four gallons or more. Once you've determined the volume needed, make sure you position the drip pan accurately beneath the transmission to catch the fluid as it drains out slowly. This process can be quite time-consuming, typically taking around 3 to 4 hours to completely drain the old fluid from the transmission.
The Toyota RAV4 from 2010 requires 4.5 quarts of transmission fluid.
