To change the serpentine belt on your 2009 Ford Fusion, you can either go to the dealer where they might charge you about $150 for labor and $60 for the belt. This is the easier and possibly more costly option. However, if you're confident in your skills and want to tackle it yourself, great! First, turn off your car, lift the hood, and use a socket wrench to loosen the belt tension by adjusting the tensioner. Then, remove the belt from one of the pulleys to have enough slack to take it off completely. Install the new belt, tighten the tensioner, and check if you've done it correctly by starting the car. If you hear a terrible grinding noise, you've damaged your engine! Otherwise, well done - you've saved money on labor. Give yourself a pat on the back and celebrate with a drink if that's your thing.
