If you've got the right tools handy, swapping out the back bumper on a 2004 Ford F-150 is a straightforward task. You'll need a ratchet, sockets, screwdrivers, and pry tools to get started. Kick things off by taking out the inner wheel well lining at the back of the truck, as it secures the bumper to the rest of the bed. Then, loosen the bolts that attach the bumper to the truck's frame underneath. Once that's done, slide the bumper off the frame rails and over the hitch port before taking it off the back of the vehicle.
