After getting maintenance work done on your Honda Accord, it may be necessary to reset the oil life light. Typically, the mechanic handling the oil change would reset the light for you. However, if they forget or if you change the fluid yourself, you will need to reset it. The process is straightforward and only takes a few minutes. Start by parking the vehicle and ensuring all doors are closed. Turn the ignition key on without starting the engine. For vehicles with an ignition button, press the power button twice without pressing the brake pedal. Look for the home button in the left cluster of controls on the steering wheel and press it to access the main menu. Using the left selector wheel, locate the wrench icon, which indicates the maintenance menu. Choose "MAINTENANCE" and select the menu option using the left selector wheel again. Hold down the button to enter reset mode when the remaining engine oil life is displayed. Release the button and press it again for approximately 10 seconds. Scroll through the maintenance options and select the one you want to reset.

To clear the oil life indicator on a Honda Accord, first turn the ignition to the on position without starting the car. Use the select knob to locate the engine oil life option. Once you find it, press and hold the knob for 10 seconds until the display blinks. After it blinks, release the knob, press it again, and hold for an additional 5 seconds.

If I reset the engine oil life myself because my mechanic forgot, but the oil life is not at 100%, will it go back to 100% after resetting, or will it accurately show the current oil life?
