To reset the oil life on a 2004 Acura TL, start by parking the car with all doors closed. Turn the key to the II position, also known as the On or Run position right before starting the engine. Display the engine oil life by pressing the SELECT/RESET button. Once shown, press and hold SELECT/RESET for 10 seconds to enter oil life mode on the display. Use the INFO button to select RESET, then press SELECT/RESET again to reset the oil life to 100%. Finally, turn off the ignition and start the car to confirm the reset. This whole process should only take a few minutes.

To clear the maintenance light on a 2004 Acura TL, first, turn the ignition to the second position without starting the engine. Press the sel/reset button on the steering wheel until the engine oil life percentage shows up. Hold down the sel button for over 10 seconds. The remaining engine oil life reset mode will appear on the multi-information monitor. Use the info (up/down) button to choose reset, then press the sel/reset button to bring back the engine oil life display.
